Getting a whole family onto a new app is its own project. Download this. Make an account. Learn the interface. Remember to check it. Most of the time it never sticks — not because the app is bad, but because it's one more thing.

Meanwhile the coordinating is already happening: a voice note in the car, a photo of a school flyer, a "don't forget Tuesday" in the family thread. Vela's job is to catch those and turn them into a shared, organized week — without asking anyone to change how they already talk.

Voice-first, because family life is hands-full

Nobody has time to type while cooking dinner or wrangling kids at the park. So Vela is built around voice. Send a ten-second note —

"Remind everyone we have dinner at Mom's this Sunday at 6."

— and Vela files the event, puts it on the shared calendar, and sets a reminder. Photos work the same way: snap a birthday invite or a permission slip and the dates land as plans.

Two ways in, one shared family

Today Vela already runs inside the chat apps families use — so you can start without installing anything new. And a dedicated Vela app is on the way, iOS first and Android after: the same assistant, with a home screen you can open to see the whole family week at a glance.

They're not either/or. The point was never to pick the "right" app and make everyone move — it's to meet each person where they already are and keep one shared picture for the household.
