Plain terms, short paragraphs, real commitments.
Plain-spoken legal-document-but-readable. If a paragraph here sounds like it was generated by a contract template on the lawyer's website, please tell us — that's not the voice we want for Vela. If these terms say one thing and the product does another, the product is wrong.
01What we're agreeing to.
You use Vela. Vela helps your family with calendar, tasks, shopping, and inbox parsing. We try not to break. Nobody promises perfection, but we promise we're trying — and we promise we'll tell you when we haven't.
02Your account, your family.
One Vela account per adult. Adults consent to these terms when they sign up. Kids are tracked without accounts and have no agreement obligations.
A family is the unit of billing. Whichever adult creates the family is the primary subscriber; subscriptions live on Apple App Store or Google Play.
03Subscription, payment, cancellation.
All billing runs through Apple App Store or Google Play. Vela never sees your card. Tax handled by the store; prices quoted on /pricing are pre-tax.
Cancel in the App Store / Play Store in two taps. We don't get an interstitial, don't get to ask why, and don't get to offer a "50% off" save-flow. You keep access until the end of your paid period; no clawback.
04Acceptable use.
Vela is for coordinating your family. Don't use it to harass other people, to automate spam, to impersonate someone else, or to upload material you don't have the rights to.
If you're unsure whether a use is OK, ask — write to hello@vela.family.
05Beta status.
Vela is in private beta. Features ship gradually, sometimes break, occasionally roll back. We try to break gently; we apologize plainly when we don't. Free during the beta; paid tiers start when the iOS & Android apps ship.
06Refunds.
Refunds for subscriptions go through Apple or Google per their policy. If something is materially broken on our end and you want a refund, write to us — we'll either get Apple/Google to expedite, or send you what we're able to send directly.
07Disputes.
We'd rather talk first. Email hello@vela.family with the issue and we'll work it out. Formally: governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada; disputes resolved in BC courts.
08Changes to these terms.
Material changes get an email at least 30 days before they take effect. Non-material edits update the “last updated” stamp at top. Version history lives in our git repo.
